Parametric Study of Photovoltaic System Integrated with Organic Phase Change Material using ANSYS

Thermal management is essential in photovoltaic (PV) systems for enhancing PV performance. Passive cooling with a phase transition material (PCM) one method managing overheated PV. Crude palm oil (CPO) preferred Malaysia since it both sustainable and inexpensive. To assess the feasibility of CPO as PCM, parametric analysis focusing on PV-PCM tilt angles, PCM thickness, encapsulation was carried out numerically. ANSYS computational fluid dynamics software used this work. The two-dimensional model to simulate monocrystalline surface macro-encapsulated placed among two aluminium layers. Each analysis's temperature distribution surfaces contour tilting angle thickness are also discussed. Validation work performed 9.73% errors that were within allowed range. result reveals when near-vertical (90o) natural convection flows more rapidly. system's average front appears achieve melting point completely faster. optimum perform 80mm, which can store heat around 4000s (66.67mins). Aluminium outperforms stainless steel copper encapsulant facilitated process by absorbing heat. 80mm encapsulated, vertical orientation has significant potential thermoregulation systems, especially Malaysian weather (27oC).
